What is Involved in Trauma Cleanup

There is much that goes into trauma cleanup. We must first assess the scene of the trauma to find out exactly what happened, where is everyone involved, and then we must go through all protocol and procedures to ensure that a thorough clean up is completed. When we are walking into a trauma scenario we never know what to expect, so we know that we must tread very lightly and treat everyone with the utmost dignity and respect. Compassion on the onset of walking into trauma is something that we must bring ahead of everything else first and foremost. Many people we must actually need to talk to and work with as we need to ensure that no bodily fluids, skin tissues or body part came into contact with others on the scene. This can and does happen, and we must approach each individual with the respect they deserve, and ensure that they are feeling safe as well help to remove them from anything that could harm them in any way.

Trauma Clean Up is Only Meant to be Handled by Trained Professionals

Trauma clean up is only meant to be handled by trained professionals.  We know that what we are walking into is devastating for all involved. No one should be left to clean up after a traumatic event. It is hard enough to deal with your own emotions after something happens to someone you know or worse yet someone you love and care about, but even if you don’t feel like it is a big deal a the time, you cleaning up the trauma yourself or with others, can actually lead to further issues down the road like PTSD and triggers from the cleaning of the traumatic event.

As experts in our field dealing with cleanup of the deceased we know that walking into a trauma scene clean up many of the times we are dealing with a very small sectioned area that the event happened in. However, the more people  involved at the scene by the time we get there we end up working with a much larger area to clean than where the original trauma took place. It is for this reason that though we contain a much larger area, to clean, sanitize, and do a full remediation on.

We never know if the person, or persons who suffered the trauma had a transmittable infection, or disease. So to protect all involved who come back into the place of business, or home, we ensure a thorough clean is done from top to bottom, and we leave knowing there is 0% risk to anyone new who comes into the area.

Trauma Clean Up Handled by Trained Professionals

How we deal with a trauma scene clean up is something different in its entirety as we are dealing with more than the deceased. When we are called out to clean a place in which a trauma occurred, we are dealing with car accidents, work related accidents, and injuries, traumas that can happen at home or basically anywhere. Any of these circumstances could have also resulted in death. We are dealing with many factors at that point. On the scene there may be police, many times doctors, and even certain levels of investigators (insurance, WCB), etc., along with family, friends and other loved ones who have arrived at the scene. People aren’t realizing many times they are stepping through bodily fluids and tissues. So we must contain as much as we can to the scene. Often times, there have been people going back and forth through the area. When we come in we must quickly assess the situation, get a full scope of what is going on, and get to work to clean and remediate the entire area for the safety of all involved.
